U. S. Steel Košice plans to invest 900 million euros in building an electric arc furnace in Slovakia

US Steel Kosice, a subsidiary of Nippon Steel, will invest approximately 900 million euros to build an electric arc furnace and an air separation unit at its Kosice plant in Slovakia. This investment may receive up to 350 million euros in subsidies from the Slovak government. The electric arc furnace will have an annual production capacity of about 1.6 million tons. The project is expected to start production in 2030.
