Dollar Trades Steady Ahead of Fed Decision -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/09/16 06:490649 GMT - The dollar trades steady as investors await the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision later in the day. Money markets price a 91% chance of a 25 basis-point rate rise when the Fed announces its decision at 1800 GMT, according to LSEG. The dollar would probably benefit only marginally from a rate rise since such a move is nearly fully priced in, Commerzbank's Antje Praefcke says in a note. "The market naturally wants to know what to expect in the future," she says. If the dot plot projections suggest further rate rises are likely, the dollar should gain ground, she says. Otherwise, the dollar will weaken, she says. The DXY dollar index trades flat at 99.607. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
