Crypto Scam Alert: Fraudsters Go Offline to Steal Seed Phrases

The most recent scam involves counterfeit letters branded with Ledger's logo, falsely instructing recipients to "validate" their wallets to prevent losing funds. The letters contain a QR code that directs to a phishing website. Mike Belshe, CEO of BitGo, exposed the scam after receiving one of these letters via USPS. Other users have reported similar fraudulent attempts, labeling it as a concerning increase in phishing tactics. This method is part of a larger trend in cryptocurrency-related fraud, with a recent incident in April 2025 involving a $300 million Bitcoin theft from a senior victim through a call-based phishing scheme linked to a UK-based group.
