The Ethereum Dencun upgrade will go live on the Goerli testnet on January 17
According to the official blog of the Ethereum Foundation, the Dencun network upgrade is scheduled to be activated on the Goerli testnet at 14:32 (Singapore time) on January 17, 2024. If no major issues are found during this process, the upgrade will continue on Sepolia and Holesky testnets. Once Dencun runs smoothly on all three testnets, mainnet activation will be arranged.
This upgrade is another significant step after last year's Shapella upgrade and it will introduce several changes. The most notable change is the implementation of EIP-4844 which introduces temporary data blobs (also known as "protodanksharding") aimed at reducing L2 transaction fees.
