Social DAO Friends With Benefits is set to incubate Scene Infrastructure, a software company focused on Web3 applications for online and real-life communities. Venture capital giant a16z recently invested $3 million in a seed round in Scene Infrastructure. a16z has also previously backed FWB. FWB began as a Discord channel based on token thresholds that occasionally hosted members-only events. The group has different membership levels based on the number of FWB tokens an individual holds. Although the barrier to entry is not as high as it once was, FWB has managed to attract celebrity members and brand partnerships.Scene Infrastructure was co-founded by Jose Mejia, who worked at Dapper Labs, and Ethan Daya, co-founder of content minting platform Zora. They say the company will build products for FWB, but also has more ambitious goals. They think more people may join FWB-like groups in the future, and Scene Infrastructure plans to show off some of its features at FWB Fest, a California event in August.
