Constitution DAO was an experiment that has now been disbanded. In November 2021, a group of web3 enthusiasts gathered into a decentralized autonomous organization with the common goal of purchasing a copy of the U.S Constitution at Sotheby's auction. There are only 13 original copies of the U.S Constitution, which means this auction sparked intense bidding war. Although the group managed to raise far more than $40 million in ETH, they ultimately failed and were outbid by billionaire hedge fund manager and Citadel CEO Ken Griffin. After its grassroots attempt to purchase one of the most valuable and iconic documents in American history failed, Constitution DAO announced it would disband. All donations are being refunded.
