OpenAI is targeted by the U.S. antitrust agency, senior U.S. official says: media copyright transactions may involve monopoly

Media reports, on Thursday Eastern Time, Jonathan Kanter, the top antitrust official at the U.S. Department of Justice, said that the department is closely monitoring deals made by artificial intelligence companies like OpenAI with content creators due to potential monopoly concerns. As AI companies such as OpenAI are actively seeking content to train their systems, more and more media outlets choose to collaborate with them by providing training materials and granting permissions. Kanter stated that AI companies need to "provide sufficient compensation for creators' works" in order to prevent other industries from collapsing.
