According to Whale Alert, at 17:39:23 Singapore time, an address containing 5,300,000 USDT has just been frozen.
It is reported that the power to freeze USDT is held by Tether company. As the issuer of USDT, Tether company has the authority to freeze USDT addresses and can choose to freeze the entire USDT address or only freeze the balance of USDT in this address without affecting other cryptocurrencies in it. Usually, Tether decides whether to freeze a certain USDT address based on legal compliance and anti-money laundering considerations.
