Opinion: A roadmap centered on rollup allows developers to try different execution environments, which is conducive to innovation
Anthony Sassano (@sassal0x), the founder of The Daily Gwei, posted on X saying: "In my view, the most exciting thing about a rollup-centric roadmap is that it allows for unlimited experimentation (scaling is important too, but that's an L2 chip).
"L2 isn't limited by L1 and can try different execution environments (and many other things) while benefiting from Ethereum's massive network effect. This makes Ethereum a 'black hole' for innovation - in the past, when people wanted to build non-EVM protocols they had to go into another L1; now they can stay in Ethereum's orbit and experiment freely.
"Of course, most of these experiments may not get enough attention, but the key point is that we can now conduct these experiments within the Ethereum ecosystem — no longer causing developers and users to flow out to other ecosystems due to non-EVM attempts. I am optimistic about the Ethereum ecosystem as a hotbed for innovation and experimentation in crypto."
