According to ChainCatcher, as previously reported by The Wall Street Journal, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent has recently privately explained to Trump why he believes it would be unwise to attempt to remove Powell. On Sunday, Trump responded on his Truth Social platform, stating that he does not need Bessent to explain to him that firing Powell would be detrimental to the markets.

Trump wrote, "The Wall Street Journal published a typical false report today, claiming that Bessent explained to me that firing the worst Fed Chair in history, 'Mr. Too Late' Powell, would be bad for the markets. I don't need anyone to explain this to me. I know better than anyone what is good for the markets and what is good for America."

If it weren't for me, the stock market wouldn't be hitting record highs right now—it might have already collapsed! So, make sure you get the real information. I don't need anyone to explain things to me; I'm the one who explains to them!"
