OpenAI CEO: GPT-5 Model Rollout Allows Paid Users to Choose 4o, 4.5 Available Exclusively to Pro Users

According to Jinse Finance, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that users can now choose between Auto, Fast, or Thinking modes for GPT-5. Most users are expected to select the Auto model. GPT-5 Thinking has a weekly limit of 3,000 prompts, after which users can utilize additional capacity with Thinking mini. The context limit for GPT-5 Thinking is 196,000 tokens. We may need to update rate limits over time based on usage patterns. The 4o model has now been re-added by default to the model selection for all paid users. If we plan to discontinue this model in the future, users will be given ample advance notice. Paid users can now also find a “Show more models” toggle in the web settings, which, when enabled, allows access to models such as o3, 4.1, and GPT-5 Thinking mini. The 4.5 model is only available to Pro users, as it requires significant GPU resources. We are updating the personality of GPT-5 to make it warmer than the current version, but not as bothersome to most users as 4o.
