Ethereum News Today: Ethereum's Institutional Bet: SharpLink Stockpiles $252M as Buyback Signals Confidence
SharpLink Gaming, the Nasdaq-listed digital asset treasury firm led by Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, has significantly increased its Ethereum holdings over the past week, adding 56,533 ETH at an average price of $4,462 per token. This purchase, valued at $252.25 million, brings the company’s total Ethereum holdings to 797,704 tokens, with the current valuation of the portfolio estimated at approximately $3.7 billion. The firm has also raised $360.9 million in net proceeds through its at-the-market facility during the week of August 18-22, with $200 million of undeployed cash still available for further acquisitions. This comes following the company’s announcement of a $1.5 billion stock buyback program aimed at strengthening shareholder value and optimizing capital allocation.
The continued accumulation of Ethereum by SharpLink reflects broader institutional confidence in the asset, particularly as ether treasury firms have collectively purchased 2.6% of the total supply over recent months. SharpLink now holds the second-largest corporate Ethereum treasury, trailing only BitMine Immersion Technologies, which holds over 1.7 million ETH. The company’s staking rewards have also grown to 1,799 ETH since the launch of its treasury strategy in June. Meanwhile, spot Ethereum ETFs in the U.S. experienced over $443.9 million in inflows on Monday alone, with BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust ETF accounting for nearly 71% of the total.
In parallel, innovation-driven blockchain projects such as Nexchain are attracting significant attention in the market. The project, which integrates advanced technologies like sharding and Directed Acyclic Graphs, has positioned itself as a high-throughput, low-fee blockchain capable of supporting 400,000 transactions per second. Token utility spans governance, staking, and transaction coverage, with an annual burn mechanism designed to regulate supply and anti-whale measures to ensure balanced distribution.
The growth of Nexchain has been supported by a live testnet, offering developers and users access to key infrastructure components. The platform also benefits from CERTIK’s security audits, adding a layer of trust for early investors. Nexchain’s token allocation model reserves 17% for the treasury, and 15% for ecosystem incentives. This strategic distribution model aims to balance early liquidity with long-term sustainability.
As both Ethereum treasury firms and emerging blockchain projects continue to shape the market landscape, the institutional and retail investor perspectives diverge. While large-scale buyers like SharpLink and BitMine drive Ethereum prices through continuous accumulation, projects like Nexchain offer alternative entry points for smaller investors seeking exposure to innovation-driven blockchain ecosystems. Analysts note that ether and ETH-focused treasury firms remain undervalued amid recent market corrections, with a $7,500 price target for ETH expected by year-end.

AI Trading Logic Shifts! From Japan and Korea to the US, Global Chip Stocks Plummet, Star IPOs Stalled, Changxin Technology Breakthroughs Raise Repeated Alarms
Among AI-related stocks that have risen significantly this year, storage chip stocks are particularly prone to profit-taking; under crowded trading and high valuations, new signs of competition are enough to trigger concentrated selling. According to Wall Street sources, Changxin Technology's 4F² DRAM architecture has provided investors with an opportunity to take profits. While its technological advancements are indeed significant, they should not be directly regarded as an immediate threat to existing manufacturers. The AI rally has not ended and may be entering its next phase, with investors focusing more on realizing profits rather than purely betting on infrastructure expansion.
