The high-performance, privacy-focused on-chain trading platform Aster supported by YZi Labs, officially announced today the launch of Shield Mode . This trading feature, as a new protection mode, is directly integrated into Aster Perpetual, aiming to bring the full 1001x leverage trading experience into a faster, safer, and more flexible on-chain trading environment.

Shield Mode is an important milestone in Aster's vision to advance the next generation of on-chain trading platforms. This mode is designed for advanced traders and provides solutions to the core challenges exchanges face in fully transparent on-chain markets.

Regarding the official launch of Shield Mode, Aster CEO Leonard stated:

Shield Mode is our interpretation and understanding of the future of on-chain trading. The future of on-chain trading is not just about leverage and speed, but also about emphasizing control, privacy, and protection mechanisms. We are building a platform where traders can perform at their highest level without being forced to disclose their trading strategies to the entire market.

Evolution of On-Chain Trading: From 1001x Leverage to Shield Mode

Aster's 1001x leverage product is renowned for breaking the boundaries of on-chain perpetual trading, offering up to 1001x leverage, zero slippage, zero opening fees, and fully on-chain settlement. As on-chain trading infrastructure matures, traders are increasingly aware of the double-edged nature of fully transparent trading, especially the risks posed by exposing strategies and intentions in on-chain markets.

In mid-2025, Aster launched the Hidden Orders feature on its perpetual contract platform, allowing traders to hide order prices and quantities from the public order book while maintaining deep liquidity. This was an important step in granting traders greater operational privacy and freedom on-chain.

Shield Mode further upgrades on this basis, combining high-performance leveraged trading with enhanced protection of trading intentions to create a smoother and more controllable trading experience.

Shield Mode: A New Generation Trading Model on Aster

Shield Mode is a brand-new trading model built directly on Aster Perpetual, integrating the 1001x leverage trading experience into a single interface and account system. In this mode, traders can more easily open and manage long or short positions without directly interacting with the public order book, while also enjoying seamless access to high-leverage trading without cross-chain switching, fragmented operations, or frequent on-chain signatures.

The advantages of Aster's 1001x trading model continue in Shield Mode, including up to 1001x leverage for BTC and ETH, zero slippage, and zero opening fees. Shield Mode further eliminates closing fees, completely removes gas costs, and accelerates trade execution.

Together, these improvements set a new benchmark for on-chain perpetual contract trading: a high-level on-chain trading experience that combines cost efficiency with ultimate performance.

Flexible Fee Structure to Suit Diverse Trading Strategies

Shield Mode is designed to support a flexible fee model, allowing traders to choose their payment method according to their strategy preferences. In future updates, traders will be able to choose between two modes:

  • Commission Mode: Charged at a fixed percentage of trading volume, suitable for high-frequency, stable trading
  • PnL Mode: Fees are only charged on profitable trades, suitable for performance-oriented strategies

To celebrate the launch of Shield Mode, all trades in this mode will be fee-free from now until the end of the year. This flexibility gives traders greater autonomy over cost control, allowing users with different risk preferences and trading behaviors to find a fee structure that suits them.

Laying the Foundation for Aster's Next Stage of Development

Shield Mode embodies Aster's macro vision that goes beyond a single trading function. By introducing a protective trading mode for on-chain markets, Aster provides traders with greater decision-making autonomy and strategy protection capabilities.

At the same time, fully integrating the 1001x experience into Aster Perpetual lays the foundation for unifying Aster's core products into a seamless system in the future, simplifying the path for traders to access high leverage and manage positions.

Combined with zero gas costs and zero fees, this mode redefines the efficiency and performance standards of on-chain perpetual trading. This release marks Aster not only as a decentralized exchange but also as a platform specifically designed for the professional and high-performance trading needs of next-generation on-chain finance.

Apple's revenue and earnings last quarter exceeded expectations, but high memory costs, shrinking gross margin, weaker performance in China, and slowing growth in services | Earnings Report Insights

In the fourth fiscal quarter ending at the end of September, Apple's total revenue increased nearly 12% year-on-year. iPhone revenue exceeded expectations with a 17.5% increase, and Mac revenue grew nearly 24%, surpassing analysts' expectations by 11%. However, iPad and wearable device revenue both fell short of expectations. EPS rose 14% year-on-year, and the gross margin of 47.9% reached its lowest point in a year, supported by U.S. tariff exemptions. Service revenue hit a record high for a single quarter. Greater China revenue increased 21%, though it was still 6.5% below analyst expectations. For the full fiscal year, revenue set a historic record, but shareholder returns declined, with stock repurchases down nearly 5% from last year to $86.4 billion. During the earnings call, management disclosed that rising memory prices are eroding profit margins, and guidance for next quarter’s gross margin is only 45% to 46%, much lower than this quarter’s 47.9%. After-hours stock price fluctuated and turned downward, at one point dropping more than 4%.
