UBS: CME Raises Margin Requirements, Retail Investors Flock In, Trading Volume of the World's Largest Silver ETF Surges
PANews, December 31 – UBS stated that the world's largest silver ETF, iShares Silver Trust (SLV), is one of the main drivers behind the growth in ETF trading volume. In the past four days, SLV's trading volume hit a yearly high on three occasions. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) raised margin requirements, which triggered excessive participation from retail investors in SLV. There was a large outflow of funds on Monday, while fund flows became more balanced on Tuesday.
