U.S. Manufacturing Sees Strongest Growth in Nearly a Year
American factories experienced their most significant monthly increase in production in almost a year this January, signaling renewed optimism for the manufacturing industry, which has faced challenges from elevated interest rates and import tariffs. According to data released by the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, manufacturing output climbed by 0.6% last month—the highest monthly rise since February 2025—following a flat performance in December.
Analysts surveyed by Reuters had anticipated a 0.4% increase for the sector, which makes up 10.1% of the nation’s economy. The December output figure was previously estimated at a 0.2% gain. On an annual basis, factory production was up 2.4% in January compared to the previous year.
