Google to Help Sea Group of Singapore Build AI Shopping Agent
Sea Group's online retail business Shopee is collaborating with Google to develop an AI shopping agent, aiming to maintain its lead over competitors such as TikTok and Lazada in Southeast Asia.
The two companies stated in a joint announcement on Thursday that Singapore-based gaming and e-commerce company Sea Group is working with Google to integrate artificial intelligence technology into all aspects of its operations. This could enable autonomous AI agents to assist Shopee users in searching for, comparing, and purchasing products, and also make products on the Shopee platform more discoverable in Google Gemini searches.
As the leading e-commerce player in Southeast Asia, Shopee has joined the ranks of online retailers including Amazon and Japan's Rakuten Group, all of whom are racing to launch AI-powered shopping services.
