Australian Dollar Forecast: Upward Trend Strengthens Beyond 70 Cents
Assessing the RBA’s Response to Rising Inflation
While the Reserve Bank of Australia typically places greater emphasis on the trimmed mean inflation measure rather than the headline Consumer Price Index, it becomes increasingly difficult to overlook headline inflation as it climbs to 3.8% year-on-year. Additionally, the trimmed mean itself is not offering much reassurance, having increased to 3.3% year-on-year in December.
Despite these developments, I do not anticipate that Wednesday’s inflation data will significantly alter expectations for RBA policy. The central bank remains poised to act if necessary, but another 25 basis point rate hike appears unlikely unless this week’s CPI figures are exceptionally strong. Recent employment data also factors into the RBA’s cautious approach.

Explosive Growth of Nearly $1 Trillion in 90 Days! AI Off-Balance Sheet Liabilities Quietly Surpass $4.1 Trillion

Data center leases, procurement obligations, and guarantees continue to expand, but rating agencies have yet to provide consistent definitions. The market is starting to worry: if AI revenue growth fails to keep pace with the fulfillment of these commitments, huge expenditures may undermine companies' cash flow and valuations.
