Rates Spark: The troublesome ones become even more difficult
Escalating Concerns in US Financial Markets
The issues we pointed out earlier this week have worsened, particularly regarding rising US break-even inflation rates and widening swap spreads. The two-year breakeven rate has climbed to 3.2%, indicating that inflation in the US could reach or exceed 3.5% over the coming years. Meanwhile, the ten-year swap spread is approaching 50 basis points, reflecting ongoing instability. This negative trend is likely to persist as long as geopolitical tensions remain high. Interestingly, real yields have shown an upward movement, with short-term real yields experiencing a decline recently.
