Canadian Industrial Capacity Utilization Drops in Late 2025
In the final quarter of 2025, Canadian industries were utilizing 78.5% of their available production capacity, marking a slight decline from the previous quarter’s revised figure of 78.9%. The construction industry saw its capacity usage fall by 0.5 percentage points to 80.4%, continuing a downward trend that has occurred in eight out of the past ten quarters. This reduction was largely attributed to decreased activity in both residential and engineering construction projects.
The mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector also experienced a drop, with capacity utilization slipping by 0.6 percentage points to reach 77.1% during the same period.
