Golden Ten Data reported on March 16 that Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated she had discussed with UN Secretary-General Guterres the idea of opening up oil and gas transportation through the Strait of Hormuz by emulating the agreement used to export grain from Ukraine. Kallas said: "I have discussed with Guterres whether it is possible to launch an initiative similar to the Black Sea Initiative." She noted that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is "very dangerous" for Asia's energy supply and also poses a problem for fertilizer production. "If there is a shortage of fertilizer this year, there will also be a shortage of food next year," Kallas said.
