AUD/USD Faces Downward Pressure Amid Unusual USD Strength

The AUD/USD currency pair is experiencing a decline as the US dollar strengthens, even though this surge isn't being fueled by rising yields or energy prices. Meanwhile, weaker inflation data from Australia is beginning to diminish the previously strong support from the Reserve Bank of Australia, which had helped stabilize the pair.

Although the 0.6943 level has repeatedly served as a support zone, it is now under increased threat. Traders should reassess their strategies in case this key level fails to hold. On Wednesday, the US dollar made an unexpected leap, gaining ground despite falling energy prices and lower Treasury yields—contradicting the typical patterns observed since the onset of the Iran conflict. Previously, the connection between higher energy prices and a stronger dollar had been clear, but recent moves suggest a shift in market dynamics.
