Iran’s largest copper smelter, Sar Chesmeh, has been shut down since March 28. The smelter processes ore from the Middle East’s largest copper mine, with an annual capacity of over 250 thousand tonnes. Earth-i stated that another state-owned smelter, Khatoon Abad, also ceased operations last weekend. That facility has an annual copper production capacity of around 120 thousand tonnes. (Bloomberg)
