European stocks see strong rebound expectations, potentially marking the largest gain since 2022

As of 7:27 a.m. Paris time on Wednesday, Euro Stoxx 50 index futures surged by 5.2%. Christopher Dembik, Senior Investment Advisor at Pictet Group, said: “The market has clearly reacted positively to this news. It is expected that at the open, traders will sell oil and defense sector stocks and buy those that were hit hardest during the crisis, such as financials and raw materials.” Since the end of February, the Stoxx 600 index has fallen 6.8% and is roughly flat year-to-date. Dembik commented: “For the financial markets, this could mark the end of a phase, but for the global economy, the inflation shock is just beginning, especially for food and raw materials.”
