The Argentine securities regulator includes crypto assets in the criteria for qualified investors.
Foresight News reported that the National Securities Commission of Argentina (CNV) issued Resolution No. 1125/2026 on April 7, revising the definition of qualified investors and explicitly including virtual assets in the assets eligible for investor qualification. According to the new regulation, virtual assets held by individuals or legal entities can be combined with securities investments and bank deposits. If the total reaches 350,000 UVA (Argentine inflation-linked units), the holder can be recognized as a qualified investor.
In addition, this revision introduces new provisions related to crowdfunding (Financiamiento Colectivo), allowing non-qualified investors to participate in certain public offerings. The maximum amount for a single investment is 3,000 UVA, and the cumulative total may not exceed 10,000 UVA. Furthermore, it must not exceed 5% of the investor’s personal assets for a single investment nor 10% cumulatively.
