Previously, Glencore had provided funding to this facility in exchange for its marketing rights. The remaining 55% of the plant’s shares will be held by Alumicore, which will also be responsible for the plant’s operations. This cooperation reinforces Glencore’s active role in supporting the establishment of a resilient and sustainable domestic aluminum supply chain in the United States. Glencore is currently a major investor in the industry, holding a 30% stake in Century Aluminium, the largest primary aluminum producer in the United States.
