Golden Ten Data reported on April 22 that data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance on Wednesday show Japan's exports accelerated in March, driven by recovering demand as well as continued strong exports of semiconductors and electronic components. In March, Japan’s total exports rose by 11.7% year-on-year, surpassing February’s revised growth rate of 4% and also exceeding analysts’ median forecast of 11%. Imports increased by 10.9%, higher than the 10.3% in the previous month. The unadjusted trade surplus widened to 667 billion yen (approximately 4.2 billion US dollars). Due to US tariffs, Japan’s exports to the US increased by 3.4%. Boosted by chips, electronic components, and non-ferrous metals, and with the impact of the Lunar New Year holiday subsiding, Japan’s exports to the European Union rose by 18.2%.
