US Central Command: Yesterday, the Savan cargo ship, along with 19 other "shadow fleet" vessels, was sanctioned by the US Department of the Treasury.

The reason is that these types of vessels have long been engaged in activities related to transporting Iranian energy, oil, and natural gas products worth billions of US dollars to overseas markets. Earlier today, the US Navy's USS Pinckney guided-missile destroyer deployed a carrier-based helicopter to intercept the cargo ship "Seyvan" in the Arabian Sea. The merchant vessel has now complied with US military orders and is returning to Iran under escort. The US military will continue to enforce US sanctions laws and fully implement blockade measures against vessels entering and leaving Iranian ports. Since the blockade was implemented, 37 ships have been ordered to change course.
