NetJets, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway: High oil prices have begun to dampen demand in the consumer goods and retail sectors.

Golden Ten Data reported on May 3 that NetJets CEO Adam Johnson, under Berkshire Hathaway, stated that rising costs (including oil prices reaching $100 per barrel) have already started to suppress demand in certain sectors. "In the consumer goods and actual retail sectors, this has indeed already impacted some demand." While acknowledging these pressures, Johnson noted that these businesses are accustomed to operating in volatile environments. "We are prepared to deal with these situations and to make adjustments when necessary. But it is certain that this is affecting some retail businesses as well as some consumer goods businesses."
