According to reports, if the plan is restarted, it is expected to attract investment of 500 billion to 600 billion New Taiwan dollars. TSMC abandoned the plan in October 2023 due to strong local opposition, shifting the focus of advanced manufacturing to Kaohsiung and Tainan.
