Uniswap DAO proposal to reclaim 42 million dollars worth of delegated UNI tokens, voting ends this week
According to ChainCatcher, Uniswap DAO is currently conducting a vote on a proposal to reclaim approximately 12.5 million UNI (about $42 million) that was previously lent to delegates and the foundation. The voting will end on May 8. At present, about 53% are in support, 46% have abstained, and very few votes are against.
From 2022 to 2023, the DAO lent out these governance tokens to increase participation in governance. Uniswap Labs stated that governance activity has now increased significantly, with average voting participation reaching around 7.5 million votes, and the mechanism has achieved its intended effect. The reclamation also aims to address the issue of incentive misalignment—some delegates hold significant voting power without significant economic exposure themselves. This move is also seen as a response to external questions about the level of decentralization in governance. In addition, the Uniswap ecosystem has recently pushed forward reforms such as fee mechanisms, token buyback and burn, and optimization of governance structure, in order to further improve governance transparency and the degree of decentralization.
