SALP founder Leopold Aschenbrenner is a 25-year-old (born in 2001 or 2002) German-born genius investor who previously worked at FTX Future Fund, joined OpenAI as a researcher in 2023 (and was dismissed in 2024 for allegedly leaking confidential information and refusing to cooperate with the investigation). In June 2024, he published a popular 165-page paper, "Situational Awareness: The Decade Ahead", which details the timeline and strategic significance of the imminent arrival of AGI, and subsequently founded the eponymous investment institution Situational Awareness LP. The fund is highly focused on AI infrastructure, including power supply, data center computing power, semiconductor optics, and the transformation of Bitcoin mining farms into HPC facilities. In just over a year since its founding, the fund has achieved remarkable growth: public holdings (13F) in Q4 2024 were approximately $225 million, which rapidly expanded to around $5.52 billion by Q4 2025, making it one of the most closely watched AI-themed funds on Wall Street.
