According to Golden Ten Data on May 12, on May 11 local time, the Trump administration requested a U.S. court to suspend the enforcement of a previous unfavorable ruling on a 10% global tariff, so that the federal government could continue to pursue the appeal process. Reportedly, the U.S. Court of International Trade ruled against the relevant new tariff measures on May 8, but did not completely halt the imposition of the tariffs. The Trump administration formally filed an appeal on May 8. If the court approves suspension of the related ruling, the three importers who previously sued the government over tariff policies will again face the 10% global tariff. It is understood that this 10% global tariff was implemented in February of this year. At that time, after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected most of the tariff measures introduced by the Trump administration in 2025, the government turned to push for a new global tariff policy based on Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974. Currently, this global tariff measure is scheduled to expire in July of this year unless Congress decides to extend it.
