Currently, the labor dispute between Samsung Electronics and the company union continues, with more than 40,000 employees registered for an 18-day strike plan set to start on May 21. Lee Jae-yong has called for the union and the company to unite and move forward in the same direction. Samsung Electronics management and labor began negotiations in December last year, but due to persistent differences, talks broke down in March this year. Afterward, under mediation, both sides held marathon negotiations from the 11th to the 13th of this month, but ultimately failed to reach an agreement. According to Yonhap News Agency, if the strike takes place, it could cause losses of 40 trillion won (about 182.4 billion RMB) and impact the semiconductor industry, and the government may consider exercising its emergency adjustment authority.
