Thailand raids illegal bitcoin mining site, power losses exceed $80,000
According to ChainCatcher, citing Khaosod English, Thai authorities raided a location suspected of illegal Bitcoin mining. Due to abnormally high electricity consumption that caused surrounding building cables to overheat and melt, law enforcement officers conducted a raid on a four-story commercial building. The investigation found that the site was allegedly illegally tapping into the main power grid to supply multiple Bitcoin mining machines on the fourth floor, resulting in estimated electricity losses of over $80,000, while the registered monthly electricity bill was only about $11. At present, police have seized the relevant mining equipment and are conducting further investigations into individuals involved in the case.
