This is considered to be the first liquefied natural gas carrier to successfully cross the Strait of Hormuz and reach Japan since the US-Iran conflict, after the Strait was effectively blockaded. Reportedly, the vessel that arrived in Tokyo Bay is a Liberian-flagged liquefied natural gas carrier owned by a company from the United Arab Emirates. According to a website providing vessel location and route data, the carrier departed from the UAE in April this year and then sailed to Japan via the Strait of Hormuz.
