U.S. Treasury yields soar to highest levels since 2007 amid market concerns over inflation and escalating Middle East tensions
BlockBeats news, on May 20, according to CNBC, the U.S. Senate advanced a resolution attempting to block the Trump administration's military actions in Iran. However, because the president has veto power, the likelihood of the resolution ultimately passing is low. Still, this vote reflects rising political resistance surrounding the situation in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, under the influence of inflationary pressures and rising energy prices, the U.S. 30-year Treasury yield rose to its highest level since 2007, reaching 5.197%. The bond market sell-off has also put pressure on equities: the S&P 500 Index posted its third consecutive day of declines, with the Dow Jones and Nasdaq also closing lower.
On the macro level, the market continues to be impacted by both geopolitical concerns and inflation expectations. As tensions in Iran push up oil prices, the U.S. economy faces the risk of further upward inflationary pressure.
In addition, SpaceX has reportedly hired Goldman Sachs to prepare for a potential IPO, which could become one of the largest in history, with the company valued at up to $1.25 trillion.
Overall, the market remains under pressure due to a combination of high interest rates, geopolitical risks, and accelerating AI competition.
