Several major developments in the world of cryptocurrency have begun to directly shape market dynamics through platform and network upgrades. PumpFun has introduced new USDC trading pairs for freshly launched tokens, while Sui Network has started gas-free stablecoin transfers on its mainnet. Meanwhile, BNB Chain has published its first findings from post-quantum cryptography testing.
PumpFun launches USDC pairs as BNB Chain block size jumps 1438%
USDC trading arrives on PumpFun
PumpFun, a decentralized exchange operating on the Solana blockchain, has now added USDC-based trading pairs for new token launches. While SOL-based pairs remain available, this USDC integration offers early-stage token projects the option of stablecoin-based swaps, expanding both flexibility and user appeal.
In the first quarter of the year, applications on the Solana blockchain generated a total revenue of $342.2 million, with PumpFun accounting for $124.7 million of that figure. This secured PumpFun’s position among the highest-volume platforms on Solana during the period.
However, the total value locked in the Solana DeFi ecosystem dropped by 22% to $6.16 billion over the same period. At the same time, SOL’s price declined by 33%. Despite these setbacks, there was no indication of any mass exodus of users from PumpFun or affiliated platforms.
Interestingly, the total value of real-world assets tokenized on the Solana network has grown by 43% since the start of the year, reaching $2.01 billion. Products like BENJI achieved an on-chain value of $1.4 billion. Institutional investors continue to show strong interest in innovative financial offerings on Solana.
PumpFun is a decentralized platform on Solana that enables easy listing and swapping of newly issued tokens. USDC is a widely-used stablecoin pegged to the US dollar.
Sui Network brings zero-fee stablecoin transfers
Users on the Sui mainnet can now transfer stablecoins such as USDC, FDUSD, AUSD, USDsui, SuiUSDe, USDY, and USDB without paying any transaction (gas) fees. This integration, particularly important for payment systems, significantly reduces transfer costs for both retail and institutional transactions.
The update to Fireblocks’ enterprise payments infrastructure means that this feature is now accessible to businesses. As a result, widespread adoption of stablecoin payments on the Sui network is expected to follow.
Sui is a high-performance layer-1 blockchain known for its parallel transaction execution. Gas-free transfers are transactions in which all user-facing fees are covered or eliminated entirely.
BNB Chain’s post-quantum tests reveal data surge
BNB Chain has been conducting trials on a blockchain system compatible with quantum-safe encryption standards. When employing the ML-DSA-44 signature algorithm alongside the pqSTARK aggregation method, signature sizes increased from 65 bytes to 2,420 bytes. As a result, block sizes grew by approximately 1,438%, with blocks approaching 2 MB even under 2,000 transactions per second (TPS) conditions.
Additionally, regional data transfers saw a roughly 40% decrease in processing throughput. Developers noted that data expansion remains a significant obstacle for scalability and storage in a production environment, indicating further optimization efforts are underway.
As Sui and BNB Chain push the boundaries of resiliency and scalability with these technological advances, both ecosystems remain focused on ensuring long-term sustainability.
PumpFun enabled stablecoin swaps for early-stage tokens with USDC-based pairs. Meanwhile, Sui integrated gas-free transfers and BNB Chain’s post-quantum tests yielded key insights into the network’s data capacity and transaction volumes.
