Bittensor Conviction upgrade officially launches on mainnet
Foresight News reported that according to Bittensor ecosystem researcher Seth Bloomberg, the Bittensor Conviction upgrade has gone live on the mainnet, marking the most influential upgrade to the network since Dynamic TAO. Conviction is an on-chain token locking mechanism. Users can lock alpha tokens to a specified hotkey, with the system generating a "conviction" score based on this; the longer the lock duration and the higher the amount, the higher the score. In the future, once the subnet ownership contest mechanism is enabled, this score will serve as the basis for determining control. Anyone who gains support from at least 10% of alpha token holders can initiate a challenge, and the participant with the higher conviction score will gain subnet control. This feature has not yet been activated; for now, Conviction mainly serves as a signaling mechanism, and subnet owners can choose whether to opt in, with no risk of forced takeover. There are two modes for token locking: decaying lock (the default, unlocks 50% after 3 months and about 95% after 12 months) and permanent lock.
