Glonghui, May 30 | Meta plans to launch testing for an AI-powered pendant next year. This ambitious wearable device roadmap aims to reverse the company’s persistent massive losses in its hardware division. An internal planning memo shows that the company intends to significantly expand its smart AI glasses product line and unveil an enterprise-oriented service project—“office wearable devices.” This memo was written by Alex Himel, Meta’s Vice President of Wearable Devices. He stated that this strategic move is partially aimed at promoting the company’s AI models and related products, including application subscription services and the consumer-grade smart assistant Hatch currently under development. According to the memo, Meta has set aggressive targets: by launching new products and expanding sales markets, it aims to sell 10 million wearable devices in the second half of this year; and strives to reach 6.8 million monthly active wearable device users by year-end. Glasses manufacturer EssilorLuxottica said in February this year that the sales of its smart glasses jointly launched with Meta in 2025 have already exceeded 7 million units.
