The higher it rises, the more optimistic investors get? Micron surpasses the $1,000 mark as Wall Street sees "growing demand for storage with no competition"
Micron Technology's share price closed above $1,000 for the first time, prompting Wall Street analysts to raise their price targets, citing the dual drivers of sustained AI demand expansion and constrained supply of memory chips.
On Monday, Micron shares closed at $1,034.74, hitting a historic milestone. Raymond James analyst Melissa Fairbanks significantly raised the price target from $530 to $1,100 on the same day, anticipating that AI-driven memory demand and supply tightness will continue into 2027–2028, supporting Micron's elevated price levels.

Morningstar analyst William Kerwin told MarketWatch that Micron's breakthrough of the $1,000 psychological threshold could be further fueling investor enthusiasm. The wave of analysts raising price targets also confirms the market's general expectation for further upside potential in Micron's stock.
"Rising memory demand with no competition"
Melissa Fairbanks noted in her research report that High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips are becoming increasingly complex with each new generation of Graphics Processing Units (GPU), a trend that reinforces Micron's market position as one of the few suppliers of HBM.
She expects that the pattern of strong AI demand and "constrained" memory supply is likely to persist into 2027–2028, providing a foundation for Micron to maintain high pricing.
Last week, D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria raised his target price from $1,000 to $1,500, reasoning that Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung virtually monopolize the entire DRAM and high-bandwidth memory market.
In his report, Luria noted bluntly that he "isn't aware of any competition coming in"—for new entrants to break into this market, they would need to build new wafer fabs, which require two to three years to construct, creating a high entry barrier that serves as a strong moat for existing players.
Meanwhile, Stifel analyst Brian Chin stated that Nvidia's upcoming RTX Spark personal computing chip will bring an additional boost in demand for Micron. The new chip supports higher memory capacity and offers better efficiency than regular PC processors, positioning Micron's memory chips to benefit from this trend.

Nvidia fell about 3%, while cloud service stocks Nebius and CoreWeave both dropped more than 7%, and optical interconnect stock Coherent fell 7%.
Hurricane Approaches the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, Shutting Down a Quarter of Oil Production and Pushing Oil Prices Higher
About 512,000 barrels per day of oil production in the Gulf of Mexico have already shut down, accounting for 25% of the region’s total output, and 16% of natural gas production has been suspended. Companies such as Shell and Chevron have evacuated non-essential personnel. It is estimated that roughly 2.7 million barrels per day, or 14% of the US refining capacity, are located within or near the projected hurricane path. Currently, crude oil and refined product prices are elevated, and US refineries are operating at full capacity to fill the gap. Mizuho Securities warns that if US refining capacity is forced offline, the consequences "will be catastrophic."
