According to Xinhua News Agency, the US Central Command posted on social media stating that Iran launched attacks across the Middle East on the 2nd, and the US military intercepted several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. In response, the US military carried out a "defensive" airstrike on Qeshm Island, Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran claimed that the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet was attacked by missiles and drones from the IRGC Aerospace Force.
