  1. Oils and Fats: Yesterday, the oils and fats sector saw a substantial capital inflow of 3.3 billion yuan. Today, however, the sector collectively pulled back on the futures market, dragged down by weaker palm oil prices on the Bursa Malaysia, resulting in a net outflow of 300 million yuan. Technically, palm oil and soybean oil are encountering resistance at previous highs. The earlier rally based on drought speculation has not materialized in major palm oil and soybean production regions, and market sentiment continues to dictate price movements. Toward the close, rapeseed oil saw increased fund positions and a layout for a rebound, making its performance relatively stronger within the sector. The spot market showed diverging trends: Guangdong 24-degree palm oil spot prices were lowered by 40 yuan to 9,580 yuan/ton, soybean oil spot prices fell 10 yuan/ton, while Jiangsu genetically modified rapeseed oil spot prices rose 110 yuan to 10,690 yuan/ton.
  2. Soybean Meal: Domestically, the pressure of imported soybeans arrivals continues to mount, oil mills are ramping up operation rates, and soybean meal inventories keep increasing. On the demand side, pig farming is suffering deep losses, feed companies have relatively ample stocks, and there’s a lack of speculative restocking. The domestic market remains in a pattern of strong supply and weak demand, keeping spot prices sideways to weak. The operating approach is to maintain a bearish outlook, focus on trends in US soybeans as well as weather and China-US trade policy. For outright positions, short on rallies; for arbitrage, favor reverse spreads; for options, consider selling out-of-the-money call options.
  3. Corn: Today, corn futures first rose then fell, mainly due to news on June 5th regarding corn reserves being released, which pressured the market. The basic structure hasn’t changed. On the supply side, the bulk of current corn holdings are concentrated with suppliers, who are quite firm on prices, but with wheat and sprouted wheat entering the market, overall grain supply pressure is rising. On the demand side, downstream companies have ample inventories and mostly buy as needed; the influx of new wheat further erodes downstream demand for corn and continues to dampen stockpiling enthusiasm by companies. With strong supply and weak demand, corn spot prices remain under pressure and weak. The main strategy remains to short on rallies for outright trades, and there is no clear driver for arbitrage; thus, staying on the sidelines is advised.
  4. Live Hogs: Today, live hog futures saw a sharp rebound, mainly due to reduced group supply and restocking by secondary fatteners supporting spot prices — it remains to be seen if this behavior will persist. While there are marginal improvements in fundamentals, the magnitude is limited and the basic pattern is unchanged. It’s worth noting that enterprises’ planned slaughter for June is slightly down month-on-month, carcass weights are little changed, and overall supply is expected to contract somewhat. However, short-term demand remains flat. Overall, live hog futures are likely to remain range-bound in the short term. For outright positions, staying on the sidelines is recommended; for arbitrage, favor reverse spreads; for options, consider constructing bear call spreads.
  5. Eggs: Egg spot prices surged significantly over the weekend, which helped push today's futures higher — especially the JD2606 and JD2607 contracts, both of which hit limit-up at the close. In the short term, due to low egg inventories and increased demand for holiday restocking ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival, egg prices are expected to face more upward pressure and be less likely to decline.

BUZZ-Revolution Medicines stock drops due to concerns over pancreatic cancer drug data

On October 8, Revolution Medicines (RVMD.O) shares fell 8.1% in afternoon trading to $185.91. RBC Capital Markets stated that the share price decline appeared to be driven by the latest U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) review documents regarding the company's pancreatic cancer drug Rasonque, particularly the disclosure of objective response rate data for specific RAS mutation subgroups. RBC pointed out that overall survival, rather than objective response rate, is a more meaningful indicator of efficacy, and that the sell-off overlooked Rasonque's broad activity across a variety of RAS mutation subgroups. RBC stated: "While we acknowledge that today's share price decline takes place against the backdrop of overall weakness in the biotech sector, we still believe that the market's reaction to the FDA review documents is an overreaction, given that the drug was approved on the basis of highly clinically meaningful efficacy and has received positive feedback from physicians." Including intraday fluctuations, the stock has more than doubled year-to-date.
