The cryptocurrency market faced widespread weakness on June 6, placing additional pressure on both Aster and Hyperliquid. Aster plunged by roughly 7.7% during the day, sliding to around $0.62. Meanwhile, an influx of new tokens on Hyperliquid triggered heightened selling activity, intensifying concerns among investors.
A $700 million move shakes the market! What do the latest HYPE and Aster figures signal?
Aster tests a critical support zone
During Friday’s pullback, Aster aligned itself with Bitcoin’s downward trend, but the token’s loss was steeper than the market average, with prices dipping into the $0.61 to $0.62 range. Despite this drop, trading volume remained brisk—a sign that interest in the project endures even under pressure.
A post shared by Wu Blockchain put Aster’s status in the perpetual futures sector back in the spotlight. The post referenced comments by Binance founder Changpeng Zhao from an October 2025 interview with the Threadguy channel, where Zhao evaluated the position of both Aster and Hyperliquid.
Glossary: Perpetual futures are derivative contracts with no fixed expiry date. A funding mechanism is commonly used in these products to balance the price difference between contracts and spot markets.
Based on these remarks, Changpeng Zhao noted that Hyperliquid focuses on an open and transparent trading structure, while Aster offers enhanced privacy features and supports native asset deposits beyond traditional BNB Chain-focused frameworks.
Zhao also emphasized that both projects are relatively young, meaning sector leadership could change over time. Market participants are now closely watching whether Aster can maintain support above the $0.60 level. According to analyst commentary hosted on CoinMarketCap, holding this threshold may help stabilize prices; if not, attention may shift toward the $0.55 area.
Token unlock fuels pressure on Hyperliquid
Hyperliquid took center stage on June 6 following a scheduled $700 million token unlock as part of its monthly vesting program. This move increased the circulating supply, prompting additional worries about further selling pressure. Hyperliquid is recognized as a decentralized platform focused on perpetual futures trading.
| Aster | Daily decline | $0.62 area |
| Aster | Support in focus | $0.60 |
| Hyperliquid | Token unlock | $700 million |
| HYPE | Intra-day price | $59.35 |
The selling pressure intensified after reports surfaced that Arthur Hayes had completely closed his HYPE positions. During the session, HYPE traded near $59.35—a noticeable drop from the all-time high of $75.51 set just five days earlier on June 1. Over the last week, the token has fallen approximately 12%.
The second notable theme in the market was keen scrutiny of how the influx of new tokens following Hyperliquid’s significant June 6 unlock could influence price dynamics.
Despite these challenges, investors remain focused on Hyperliquid’s treasury structure. Reports revealed that the project’s treasury holds roughly $1.1 billion in unrealized token gains. In the short term, all eyes are on whether Aster will defend the $0.60 support and how Hyperliquid will perform given its expanded circulating supply.
