Japanese government bonds remain stable as markets await Bank of Japan rate hike signals

  1. Japanese government bonds traded steadily on Tuesday, as investors awaited the Bank of Japan to raise interest rates as expected and watched for signals of further policy tightening.
  2. The benchmark 10-year Japanese bond futures fell 0.17 yen to 128.09, while the 10-year yield remained at 2.575% (having dropped 6 basis points in the previous session).
  3. The Bank of Japan is expected to raise its benchmark interest rate to a 31-year high of 1% after the meeting, while bonds of other maturities had yet to trade in early deals.
