  1. The yield on Austria’s 10-year government bonds fell to 3.18% in early Tuesday trading, after recent comments by ECB President Lagarde eased market expectations of further rate hikes. At the same time, weak economic data from the Eurozone and Germany jointly supported increased bond purchases.
  2. Although the Eurozone PMI showed a slight improvement, it remained below the key 50 threshold, indicating economic activity is still in a contraction zone. Germany’s PMI dropped to an 18-month low, highlighting significantly insufficient growth momentum and reinforcing demand for safe-haven asset allocation.
  3. Lagarde’s statements led the market to reassess the ECB policy outlook. If subsequent data further confirm the economic slowdown trend, expectations for the scale of rate cuts within the year may continue to rise, thereby putting further downward pressure on government bond yields across the Eurozone.
