According to Cointelegraph, Kleros co-founder Clément Lesaege suggested redirecting 0-10% of validator staking rewards for ecosystem funding through the Validator Redirected Revenue mechanism. Based on current staking levels, allocating 5-10% could generate approximately 50,000 to 70,000 ETH annually, which is about $82.5 million to $115.5 million. EthLabs has received support from institutions including BitMine, Sharplink, and ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin to provide off-chain funding paths. The Ethereum Foundation is reducing its annual spending cap from 15% to 5% and laying off 54 employees. Bitwise analysts pointed out that if the annual funding gap is around $30 million, only 1.6% of staking rewards would be needed to cover it.
