SK Securities: Memory stocks are the cheapest equities among the bottlenecks of the AI era
According to Odaily, South Korea's SK Securities continues to believe that the process of memory re-rating is still in its early stages. SK Securities points out that TSMC enjoys a high valuation because it is a platform manufacturer that enables customers to drive future development, and the same logic applies to memory in the AI era. Structurally improved profitability and visibility, as well as strengthened shareholder returns on this basis, mean that the memory re-rating and the removal of the Korea memory discount will progress simultaneously.
Currently, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have 12-month price-to-earnings ratios of about 6.0 times, with their share prices indicating they remain the cheapest stocks among the bottlenecks in the AI era. As value shifts and is redistributed within the industry, the indicators to trust and follow are changes in profitability, not valuation frameworks based on the past. SK Securities maintains an overweight rating on semiconductors.
