Golden Ten Data reported on June 26 that BCA Research foreign exchange strategist Artem Sakhbiev stated in a report that the recent rebound of the US dollar appears somewhat excessive and lacks the support needed to break through the trading range of the past year. The Federal Reserve raised its interest rate projections at last week’s meeting and made it clear that its focus is on inflation. This led to a significant rise in real yields adjusted for inflation and alleviated concerns about political pressure for rate cuts, thereby boosting the dollar. However, this trend now seems to have essentially ended. The Federal Reserve may keep interest rates unchanged, and the spread between short-term and long-term yields may widen.

Bank of America and others launch $60 billion financing to support Anthropic leasing Google AI chips

According to the Financial Times, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley have begun distributing a total debt financing package of $60 billion to other banks, to support Anthropic’s leasing of Google (GOOG.US) AI chips in what is the largest chip financing deal to date. Of this amount, approximately $42 billion consists of senior secured loans backed by Broadcom (AVGO.US), with syndication launching on Monday; an additional $18 billion, a tranche of subordinated debt without Broadcom’s backing, is expected to be launched later, with Blackstone committed to providing about $9 billion of the funding. The funds raised will support Anthropic’s chip orders for 2027, with lease payments beginning after chip delivery. Broadcom may also receive up to $42 billion in convertible notes from Anthropic as payment for related leasing costs. This $60 billion financing is being seen as a key test of market demand for AI-related debt.

Fitch says North American oil hedging currently faces book losses, natural gas traders lock in prices for 2028

Fitch Ratings has published a related assessment showing that oil hedging operations in North America have currently resulted in paper losses, while natural gas producers are moving to lock in favorable prices for 2028. It is understood that hedging activities by energy companies are primarily intended to counter commodity price fluctuations and stabilize operating cash flows. The recent paper losses in oil hedging are directly linked to the volatility in international oil prices. Meanwhile, natural gas producers' decisions to secure advantageous prices years in advance reflect the industry’s clear expectations regarding future supply and demand dynamics and price trends for natural gas. This early positioning aims to safeguard future profit margins and mitigate the operational uncertainties that potential market price fluctuations may bring.
