Japanese media: The Japanese government may adjust the wording related to monetary policy in its annual policy guidelines
Golden Ten Data reported on July 8 that, according to Japan's Asahi Shimbun, the Japanese government may adjust the wording on monetary policy in its annual policy guidelines to avoid creating the impression of pressuring the Bank of Japan. The report stated that the draft of the upcoming annual economic and fiscal policy guidelines originally wrote that the "appropriate implementation" of monetary policy is "extremely important." Some interpreted this as the government hinting for the Bank of Japan not to continue raising interest rates. The latest draft adds content regarding inflation, calling for appropriate monetary policy to promote stable price increases. The report quoted a government official as saying that this revision reflects the misunderstanding of some financial market participants regarding the original draft.
