Analysis: SpaceX's inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 Index offers bitcoin investment opportunities to passive index investors
ChainCatcher reports, according to Bitcoin Magazine, SpaceX officially joined the Nasdaq 100 Index on July 7. Previously, the company had disclosed that its balance sheet holds 18,712 Bitcoins. JPMorgan estimates that this index rebalancing will drive around $4.3 billion in passive capital inflows from funds and ETFs that track the Nasdaq 100. This means that institutional capital has gained structural Bitcoin exposure through corporate treasury channels.
With SpaceX's addition, the number of companies holding Bitcoin in their treasury within the Nasdaq 100 rises to three (SpaceX, Tesla, and Strategy). Analysts point out that index inclusion creates demand determined by rule-based mechanisms rather than active allocation. The combination of Bitcoin holdings and strong fundamentals can enhance a company's market visibility and liquidity. Currently, public companies collectively hold over 1.26 million Bitcoins, and corporate Bitcoin strategies are shifting from early-stage experiments to integration with mature financial infrastructure.
